We loved this vintage inspired styled shoot with the talented Emily Snitzer Photography. She teamed up with her beautiful sister and envisioned a vintage theme, beautiful old books, a VW van that will make you drool, old lanterns and the beautiful landscapes of Wisconsin. As Emily’s vision grew, so did the vendors who wanted to be involved in this story. We love the different looks of the shoot and the way she showcased such fun, yet simple props. Curly crazy hair, beautiful antique gown, the green lush backdrop of Wisconsin…yes, this was exactly it, A Northwoods Wedding inspiration at it’s finest!

liz + jason’s day was full of vibrant colors, stunning dresses, and a heck of a lot of love. Studio Noveau captured each moment of the romantic event perfectly. getting married at one of the most beautiful midwest cathedrals in st. paul, the couple shared their vows in front on family and friends! at the gorgeously lit reception, courtesy of Instant Request, the bride changed into one of the most gorgeous vera wang gowns we ever laid our eyes on! and they danced the night away…

While internet sites selling used wedding gowns has grown in popularity over the last 5 years, we heart that LUXEredux is also a permanent brick and mortar store right here in the heart of Columbus, Ohio.  Being a Midwest gal, you know that driving is no big deal!  We get brides from all over traveling to see gowns that are this discounted and in this great of shape!  The care that has been maintained on the gowns we accept is second to none and we pride ourselves on that feature.  We consistently hear brides exclaim in disbelief that a gown looks that good for being a sample.  Most often, a spot clean around the train is the only fixer-upper you will need!

Our tidbits on searching for “Your Perfect Dress”

• Have a budget in mind for how much you want to spend.  It really is a set back for all parties involved if you try on a gown that is out of price range and you fall in love.
• Look online and at bridal magazines before you make appointments. Tear out the gowns that you think most represent you.  Bringing these to your consultant is much easier than describing because many times brides don’t necessarily know proper terminology or cuts of a gown and that can lead to miscommunication and frustration.
• Find a few designers that you think are most compatible with your style and seek out those boutiques so that you don’t feel the need to marathon shop at every store in town.
• Attend one or two appointments in a day and space out the timing so you  have time to rest in between.  The deer in headlights look is not attractive!
• Think about your wedding details so your gown resembles the feel you are going for.  We know trying on dresses is fun but if you don’t know if you’re having a ball room formal wedding versus a beach soiree, an appointment can be very much time wasted in the eyes of your consultant.
• We know bringing people with you can seem like a fun party but you must know the personalities of those around you.  Inviting someone with strong opinions can very much deter your search efforts and cause hurt feelings.  It’s said more often than not, but for good reason, bring one or two trusted advisors and save the party for the engagement festivities!

one of the things many young girls dream of is wearing the dress of her dreams on her wedding day.  as a little girl, i loved playing dress-up with my grandma’s old formal dresses and pretending pillowcases were veils.  giddy with excitement as my cousins and i put on all the pretty gowns, we felt as though we were the belles of the ball.  over the years my taste in fashion has drastically changed but i still believe one thing to be true more than anything else…your wedding dress should be everything you’ve always dreamed it to be.  those feelings of excitement and beauty you had when you were little walking down the pretend aisle should emanate from you as you walk down the real aisle in your actual wedding gown.

no matter what your style is your bridal gown shouldn’t be anything but you. it should showcase your individuality and be something you feel the most comfortable in.  be open-minded.  you may go into the bridal salon with an idea of what you want and after trying a few, you may find that you like another style better.  remember, the hanger never does a dress justice…it needs a beautiful woman to give it life!  so don’t be afraid to step outside of your box and try something you may never have thought of before; you just may surprise yourself.

finding your wedding dress can be an overwhelming process but remember you’re not alone.  bring your best support system and have fun! your fiancé will see you as the most beautiful woman in the world on your wedding day no matter what so find a gown that represents you…after all, that’s the person he loves.
