from lisa:

“Jena and I began the process of planning about a year prior to the June wedding.  With Jena being away at college in North Dakota, her mother played an immense role in making sure that Jena’s requests and vision was not lost throughout the process of design and production of the wedding day.  We chose venues that were close to Jena’s heart- The Church of the Holy Redeemer {where she is a member} and the Landmark Mercantile {where she worked during high school}.  Jena’s vision was soft, romantic, and classic with soft whites accented by clover and espresso throughout the décor.

Jena’s custom made dress was created of layers {upon layers!} of tulle and hand sewn Swarovski crystals to give it just enough sparkle to catch the sunlight throughout the day. The dress truly was swoon worthy!

When selecting custom stationery, Jena and Dayton fell in love with thermography, so we enlisted the talent of Dena Swenson Designs.  From the Pocket fold invitations, ceremony programs, menus, and place cards, Dena’s design was carried throughout the wedding day.

Flowers. Ah-mazing flowers!!  We decided to keep the flowers minimal within the church as it had recently underwent a huge renovation and the church was breathtaking by itself.  Simply Fabulous created large vases of the whitest Hydrangea and left the rest of the church in its natural beauty.  Tables at the reception were draped alternating mixtures of White Chiffon Soutache and Clover,  which vases of Hydrangea, Eskimo roses, and White Ranunculus rested upon, as well as clouds of White Hydrangea and Curly Willow.  Additionally, we added Mahogany Chivari chairs to lend a bit of wooded, masculinity to the tables.  Overall, we transformed a warehouse feel to a garden of flowers!  Meanwhile, the whole room glowed with over 400 candles dancing on tables, window sills, and bars throughout the area.

Flowers for the Wedding Party were created based on the same design concept for the reception, but with a more romantic, soft feel to them.  Jena and her mother to meet with one of my favorite local florists who created the stunning bouquets for all of the special people of the wedding day.  Filled with Astilbe, Ranunculus, Hydrangea, and Hypericum berries, the flowers were stunning!

Last, the cake. THE. CAKE. Over seven {!!} feet tall, I had stuffed dozens upon dozens of White hydrangea into each of the layers as it was set upon a glass stand.  Below the cake, I created a bed of the same blooms we had used on the tables to create a ‘carpet’ look below the glass.  The look on Jena’s face when she saw her cake just made my heart flutter.  {Literally, it fluttered!!}

In creating weddings and events for the past six years, I have to honestly say that this wedding continues to resonate in my heart and not because of just how beautiful it was on the outside, but because of the genuine and true love that carried from Jena’s parents, and through to the new life Jena and Dayton created that day.  Throughout the day I found myself wiping away tears just in awe of how much Jena’s parents love for marriage and family truly reflected on Jena and Dayton’s face! “
