A Classic Fall Vineyard Wedding set along the Santa Cruz Mountains
Vineyards are beautiful no matter what time of year, but if you love the pops of Fall Colors, the vines are a great way to get some! The leaves have changed and you can become surrounded by golden colors! This couple decided to stay classic with pops of red floral, navy and grey suits and golden touches everywhere! All beautifully coming together for a classic fall vineyard wedding in California!
Their Proposal Story?
Morgan and Shane are both from the same hometown in California, but they currently live in Colorado. They met at their family church’s youth group in high school but did not become friends until after they both graduated from their respective high schools. They dated throughout their twenties but did not become engaged until 2019. Shane proposed in Morgan’s favorite place, Yosemite National Park, on a secluded hike.
Their favorite memory for their day?
They loved seeing everyone they love together and being able to celebrate in such a big way.
What was their biggest frustration planning their wedding day?
There were really no frustrations. Morgan and Shane picked a fabulous venue that handled the vast majority of things in-house. This really allowed the process of planning to be easy when Morgan was living out of state.
Their photography wishlist?!
While we didn’t have a specific wish-list, we knew that the most important thing to this couple was their guests, specifically their closest loved ones. We made sure to spend extra time carefully and intentionally choosing the best light and location for family photos. We came prepared with an organized list. So that the couple could get to their cocktail hour and spend time with their guests. We also made sure to get tons of pictures of the guests themselves, since we knew how important they were to this couple.
How did the couple decide on their wedding venue? Why was this the perfect reception spot?
Sycamore Creek Vineyards not only handled 97% of the wedding services in-house, but the location was beautiful and intimate. Jennifer and Alex were amazing and thoughtful coordinators and being in our hometown definitely was positive. This allowed us to use many other local businesses that we have personal relationships with for our big day.
Tell us about the bride and her gorgeous dress! (from the photographer)
We could go on for DAYS about Morgan! Having her as an Angela Sue Bride was extra special for me (Angela). I met her many years ago at a mutual friend’s (and mutual Angela Sue Bride) bridal shower—sometime later, we became good friends, talking about her dream of a Yosemite engagement session, long nights as a law student, and all her dreams for her future.
I got to photograph her graduation portraits when she finally finished her law degree, and then sometime after that, we recruited her and her now-husband for couples styled session. And it turned out to be a perfect fit for their wedding, too! Morgan has the most joyful laugh, biggest heart, and kindness in her soul. She defends those who can’t defend themselves. Loves and encourages her friends. She puts all others before herself. And Morgan chose the most perfect Morilee wedding dress that was fit for a fall vineyard wedding and classy, elegant woman. We could have photographed her for HOURS just in her dress. The lace is beautifully matched for her classic fall vineyard wedding!
Were there any special/unique requests from the couple?
Not too long before they got engaged, Shane’s dad suddenly passed away. Not having him at the wedding was hard on everyone, but especially for Shane and his family. They are a close-knit bunch, beloved by our local community (and us), so we paid special tribute to him during family photos. We couldn’t get any photos of Shane’s dad with us in person, but we were able to include him in group photos using a framed photo of him. It was a really special way that we could honor the memory of Shane’s dad and his relationship with him, too. We know Ken was with us the whole time!
About Angela Sue Photography:
Welcoming Angela Sue Brides and Grooms into our little family is one of our biggest joys! Because we believe that every couple should have the perfect fit in their wedding vendors, especially their photographers! Couples don’t have to write a novel or anything, but we LOVE the details and we soak up every word they share with us.
After that, we’ll schedule a virtual double date to get to know them, hear their proposal story and vision for their wedding, and then share with them what a wedding experience looks like with us. If it’s a perfect fit, we’ll send over the official booking email and the rest will be history!
What were your favorite moments from this couple’s wedding? What stood out the most?
The first look. Morgan and Shane have been in each others’ lives for nearly 10 years. What started as friendship evolved into beautiful and true love and respect for one another as partners—and the moment Morgan tapped Shane’s shoulder and he saw her for the first time as his bride, TEARS ran down his face. It was sweet, emotional and all of us could just feel the pure joy they both were exuding. He lifted his hand to his face almost in disbelief—after 10 years, ups and downs and all, it was FINALLY happening.
