This absolutely green and gorgeous wedding made it’s way to the top of our charts when we first saw it. A beautifully rustic, hand made, and environmentally friendly wedding proved to be the winning combination (and a gorgeous one) for this sweet couple! From the flower wreath in the brides hair to the beautiful cactus centerpieces, the floral bridesmaids gowns to the suspends on the gents, each and every aspect was tailor made to create the perfect feel. Captured by the keen eye of Rouxby Photography, we love love love all that this beautiful soiree stood for. Definitely one for the record books…
“We did our best to let our personalities show through our wedding. Instead of a unity candle, Ian and I did a unity planting. His grandparents own a tree farm in Illinois, and we were able to use one of the trees his grandfather planted before he passed away. We’ll be planting it at our new house after we move.
Also, because Ian and I are both committed to environmental responsibility, we did our best to keep the wedding green. Our flowers were all organic and sustainably grown from a local florist, and we even repurposed the bridesmaids’ bouquets as centerpieces. We chose the venue because we could have the ceremony and reception at the same location, which would minimize travel, and it was beautiful without too much décor. And we encouraged all of our guests to recycle.
I think my favorite part about our wedding was that many of the details were handmade by our extremely talented friends. One of my best friends and bridesmaids, Katy, not only designed all of the stationary, but also hand painted the vintage windows for our dessert, drink, and dinner menus. My co-maid of honor, Marianne, hand carved our card box out of cedar, and another family friend, Cherish, made all of the cupcakes and the cake, a pound cake with Ian’s grandmother’s homemade raspberry jelly. Even the terrarium’s we used as centerpieces were made by a few of the bridesmaids and groomsmen. It was wonderful to know that we were surrounded by the love and support of our friends, and that they were so willing to put everything into our wedding day.”
The bridesmaid dresses were custom made using authentic vintage fabrics by Sohomode.
