Laid Back HIking Egypt Valley Trail Elopement

Laid Back Hiking Elopement in Ada Michigan

These two got married where they had their first date! Along with just a handful of people, they said their vows! They had other plans for their wedding day, but COVID had other plans. They wanted the big church wedding in Michigan but instead had an elopement among the trees that started it all. The amazing hike on the Egypt Valley Trail!

About the couple:

Aubrey and Taylor are both extremely caring, intelligent, and loyal people. They met while on a mission trip. Where Aubrey was seeking to find more of herself through helping others and practicing her faith. Taylor was fulfilling his duties and beliefs as a seminary student. After spending time together growing in their beliefs and helping others on their trip. They knew that once it was over, they needed to remain in one each other’s lives. So they made sure that they did.

Their very first date was spent hiking on Eygpy Valley Trail in Ada, Mi. They took in the wonders of nature, each other, and together praised their Lord and Savior.  They found a rock embedded into the trail during their hike. Seeing this rock instantly had them both remembering the Bible verses of Luke, 6:47-49;

“Everyone who comes to me and hears my words and does them, I will show you what he is like. He is like a man building a house, who dug deep and laid the foundation on the rock. And when a flood arose, the stream broke against that house and could not shake it, because it had been well built. But the one who hears and does not do them is like a man who built a house on the ground without a foundation. When the stream broke against it, immediately it fell, and the ruin of that house was great.”

Together they knew that at that moment, they needed to drop to their knees and pray. To give thanks that they were brought together on their faithful mission and into one another’s lives.

Six months later, they knew that they not only wanted to remain in each other’s lives.

Taylor asked Aubrey to marry him on a perfect summer evening at her Grandmothers home. They had planned their wedding on May 10th, 2020 at Douglas Walker Park. Initially planning their special day with a larger guest list of all their immediate family, Church families, and friends, COVID had other plans. Instead of worrying that it would no longer work out, they prayed. Then they remembered their first date, the solid rock foundation embedded into the trail on which they prayed. They knew then that would be where they now said their vows, exchanged their rings, and built their foundation of marriage.

May 10th, 2020, just immediate family and their closest friends gathered on Eygpt Valley Trail to witness Aubrey and Taylor say “I Do.”.  After their short and sweet ceremony, a few moments of photos, they ventured off on the trail once again for their best hike ever.
