megan daas photography certainly knows what she’s doing and this lovely couple definitely made the right choice when deciding to choose her to capture their incredible wedding day. taking place in and around madison, wisconsin, this rustic wedding is more than just a a beautiful day..it’s a celebration of the love between matt and abby that megan so effortlessly shared with us. their reception glowed in the barn owned by a family friend and fit the style of their warm event. from the finger print tree to the la fortuna pizza, this wedding made each guest feel welcome and appreciated..and just the picture of the dessert bar will leave you craving a little sugar. so, sit back, grab something sweet and enjoy this amazing wedding.
When planning my wedding day, there were three things that were very important: I wanted a beautiful fall day, the reception site needed to have character, and a dance party! My husband, Matt and I planned our wedding in six months after he proposed in April, just enough time to schedule our wedding day on October 15. Beautiful fall day, check. Through a friend of Matt’s we were connected to Rich who owned a barn on his property. Matt and I looked at numerous reception sites, and after we looked at Rich’s barn, we found ourselves a reception site with character, check. We had our ceremony at our home church in Madison; we incorporated the fall theme with two trees at the end of the aisle, leaves, and a tree thumb print guest sign in poster. For the ceremony and reception, we wanted to make sure our guests were entertained. We are incredibly lucky to have extremely talented friends. Before the wedding we had a live band planning our own wedding prelude. They continued the music at the cocktail hour and we even had an accordion player to indulge our guests! The live band and the accordion player added so much to our barn reception! As for decorations, hay bales were incorporated, burlap material was used for table runners, and sticks to expand on the Fall setting. For food we had La Fortuna brick oven pizza made right on site. I honestly cannot remember better wedding food than those pizzas! With the music being another predominate theme on our special day; it had to be followed by an awesome play list that was wonderfully conducted by a good DJ! With the barn being a nice open space and great acoustics, the dance party was a great success, check! Overall, we wanted a fun, intimate and whimsical day, the music, food, and barn all help create our picture perfect day.
