North Carolina Mountain Wedding
A beautiful and fun North Carolina Mountain Wedding with so many unique touches that were just theirs! Making their elopement 100% filled with their personalities! As one should do on their wedding day! With a picnic of cake during one of the most stunning sunsets, I have ever seen!
About their day:
We were inspired by the mountains and the beauty of one of our favorite travel spots. We wanted to elope so we could have a wedding that was purely us and our love. Simple and intimate and a beautiful destination. The one tradition I followed was Old, new borrowed blue. I had my grandmother’s bracelet, my ring, my mom’s bracelet, and blue socks.
Our decor was the beautiful nature around us. But we brought in our little touches. I hand-made our vow books and little clay figurines that represent our nicknames Vulture and Bunny. A ring box with our initials. Even though it was an elopement, we got to customize the location, flowers, & cake. They created an adorable little picnic with a champagne toast, and the cake was divine. We even brought a piece back to Florida.
Her amazing style:
I had a green leafy crown and carried a bouquet with darker hues to compliment my dress’s light pink peachy color. He had a tie with a flower pattern. I was worried about keeping my flowers, but then we had some fun tossing around the bouquet. I still managed to save them as a keepsake.
We wrote personalized vows that were more like promises with a little more humor. I used a quote from one of his song lyrics. Hand-made vow books. Hand-made little clay figurines. Fav parts: there were these Flys on the mountain all around, and we dubbed them Mountain fairies. The grounding meditation the officiant performed. I twirled around like Maria in the Sound of the Music, celebrating that the Hills are Alive!
That amazing North Carolina Mountain Wedding dress!
I never wanted to wear white. Found a peachy/pink-colored dress that had the perfect bit of flair at the bottom for a good twirl. I tried to find something less traditional than still with those flower child, free spirit type vibes. He wore a turquoise suit with a flower tie. Unique and stylish, just like him!
We met at work. I was in a long-term relationship. After it ended, he showed me how to enjoy life again. I was 30 and in a rut, and he was seven years younger and living it up in his 20s. We always helped each other out right away. When one was down, the other one took over. We developed a love of travel, spent a year living in a van touring the country. He proposed to me on my birthday. In my family, we celebrate at the exact time I was born. I always cry on my birthday because I wouldn’t say I liked growing up, and then he took me to the patio, got down on one knee, and asked me the most grown-up thing ever.
Their wedding day feelings:
I was soo nervous to cry. I woke up early and finished putting my vows into the book. The sun was rising we had a mountain view from the B&B porch. It was the beginning of a perfect day. We wanted the vows to be funny, but mine started to sway a bit more sentimental, and as I was tearing up, he came outside, and I declared that I made my vows to mushy began to cry. We then went back inside, and as we set out our clothes, we danced around to Marry You by Bruno Mars. …..Fast forward to after the wedding we went out to the terrace and danced to our song under the bistro lights, just the two of us. Then we ate a bucket of KFC and some wedding cake.
