About the Couple:
They met in college at ASU over 10 years ago. We met at a bar just off-campus. I had a sorority function the next night but did not have a date. A friend of mine took it upon herself to ask Austin for me, who she already knew. After Austin agreed to attend, she then introduced us.
We were friends for a few months before we started dating. After graduation, Austin moved back to Seattle and I stayed in Scottsdale. We dated long distance for over 2 years before I eventually moved to Seattle to be closer to him.
The Proposal:
Austin proposed on 2/2/18 in Phoenix. We went out for drinks with friends and then drove back to my mom’s house where we were staying for the long weekend. The sunset that evening was particularly colorful so when we got back, Austin suggested we go out to the backyard right away to get a better look.
When we stepped outside, the path was lined with rose petals and candles. He got down on one knee and proposed. We stayed outside for a short while before going back inside, where I was surprised to see both our families waiting with champagne! It was such a special evening to be able to celebrate with both our families who are usually in different states.
Favorite Desert Wedding Memory?
The first look and ceremony were really special for both of us. It felt so personal even with friends and family present.
But it was also so great to dance and party the night away with all our favorite people. Now, in 2020, looking back on that night we can truly appreciate how wonderful it was to have everyone together to celebrate that moment with us.
Biggest frustration planning their wedding day?
Figuring out the guest list! We didn’t want a huge wedding, but we also wanted to invite all the people that had made an impact on our lives. It was really difficult to find that balance.
Experience with Photographer:
Absolutely amazing! Tasha was so helpful throughout the entire process and really helped us bring our dream wedding to reality. The wedding day went so smoothly, Austin and I didn’t have to worry about a thing. Everything was handled so well the whole day felt perfectly seamless. We couldn’t have done it without her! She knew when to pump us up and get us excited, but also when to act as a calming presence to ease the stress. Tasha is so kind and thoughtful. I truly cannot say enough wonderful things about her!
What was the wish list that the couple wanted for their wedding day?
Our biggest wishlist item was for our wedding to feel like a party from the moment our guests arrived. We wanted the night to be fun and memorable for everyone, not just us. We also wanted a mostly outdoor venue that wouldn’t require a lot of decorations or tricks to make it look beautiful.
How did the couple decide on their desert wedding venue? Why was this the perfect reception spot?
Tasha helped us find this venue. We told her we wanted a mostly outdoor wedding and she recommended Troon North. Once we arrived to tour the venue it was a very easy decision! Troon North is located in a beautiful desert landscape that feels remote without being too far away from hotels and other accommodations for our guests.
All about that beautiful dress:
My dress was by Amsale Nouvelle. I loved the clean simplicity of the dress juxtaposed against the desert landscape.
