From the Bride:
When planning our wedding, we always tried to keep our eyes focused on the bigger picture- We were planning a day to celebrate our marriage with the people that meant the most to us and to our families. We wanted to have a relaxed and fun atmosphere where our guests felt like they could come, kick back, and feel the love. We chose Old World Wisconsin because we loved the feel and also because the ceremony and party could all take place at the same spot! We decided not to choose “colors” for our wedding and instead let it happen naturally and go through the process choosing things we loved instead of things that fit our color theme. In an outdoor wedding, the colors of nature are all around and we wanted that feel to come through. It was so fun to watch the wedding come to life with every element we planned. My favorite part of planning was choosing the table linens and flowers and also doing my “craft projects” in the final weeks of preparation- handmade programs, escort cards, hotel welcome bags, and the guest book. My favorite element of the wedding day ended up being our ceremony. We tried to incorporate as much of “us” into the ceremony as possible. Our siblings read bible passages and poems, my girlfriends shared Irish Blessings, the groom’s father made a beautiful processional cross to be carried into the ceremony, and the alter will now be used as a table in our home together. Surrounded by our friends and family, we truly felt the love as we kicked off our lives as husband and wife.
